Henry’s Beach & Douglas Preserve Hike Loop
This hike begins at Hendry’s Beach in Santa Barbara and travels about 2 miles down the beach to the bougainvillea-lined Mesa Lane steps (all 1,000 of them) before entering the Douglas Family Preserve. This 70 acre Preserve on the bluffs was named after actor Michael Douglas in recognition of his generous gift to place this ocean-front property into the Trust for Public Land- ensuring it will be enjoyed by locals for generations to come. Experience the eucalyptus groves and chaparral gardens overlooking the Pacific and views of the Channel Islands before a windy trail through the oaks brings you back to lunch at the Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach. This hike is sure to please even the most well-traveled guests, with its stunning views of coastline, and beachfront dining experience.
Hiking Tour – $175/person including lunch at Boathouse Restaurant
Refugio Hike
Moderate hike of 6 miles with great views of the Santa Ynez Valley and at the top, 180 degree views of Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean. Starting at the base of the coastal mountains, we’ll climb the eroded fire road that was former president Ronald Reagan’s main avenue into the Santa Ynez valley, when he visited from his ranch on the top of the pass. Shaded by the biodiverse oak forests, our efforts will be rewarded with stunning vistas, and blooming wildflowers in the spring.
